WING CHUN KUNG FU BENDIGO

Sifu  Paul McCarthy was introduced to Wing Chun Kung Fu in 1975. Bruce Lee films such as 'The Big Boss' and 'Enter the Dragon' brought Wing Chun to Bendigo.

Not long before this, Cheung Cheuk Hing (William Cheung) had came to Australia. William Cheung was a senior student of Yip Man and great friend of Bruce Lee. William began teaching Wing Chun in Melbourne but would come to Bendigo to teach on Sundays. Paul McCarthy was one of his students at the age of 16 until William was unable to continue with the Bendigo school.

Over 20 years later, when living in Melbourne, Paul continued his Wing Chun with now Grandmaster Cheung at his Melbourne Kwoon. Paul attended Summer camps, Winter camps, Discipline camps and Warrior training during another 3 year period before life's twists and turns took Paul away to Sydney.

In 2012, Paul was fortunate to meet Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda Baniecki of Jee Shin Wing Chun Kung Fu Association and has made a weekly pilgrimage to Melbourne to learn from these two Masters of Wing Chun. Paul is now a GOLD Sash Instructor - senior student of Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda and in 2015 and 2018 travelled to China to explore the 'Roots of Wing Chun' with Sifu Garry and Sifu Linda.

Paul has had long connections with Bendigo since his childhood and is committed to bringing the highest standard of Wing Chun Kung Fu to Bendigo. Paul is the most senior qualified Wing Chun practitioner in the Bendigo region, the only practitioner to have graded to Gold Sash - Certified Instructor.
